Queen West has a new spot to buy grooming products with Aesop, from Australia, landing at Oliver Spencer. Rather than espousing the merits of yet another skin-care line, I’ll let Aesop's Giovanni Lepoi tell you. Surrounded by the Oliver Spencer menswear collection, which is still made only in the UK, I get the details.
Max MacDonald: fab readers will question why they should try yet another natural product line when the Body Shop and Lush Cosmetics are already in Toronto.
Giovanni Lepoi: At Aesop, we only use essential oils to construct our products. We don’t believe in using celebrity endorsements or fancy packaging. With Aesop, what you see is what you get. We have been around since 1987, and we have a huge following in Australia. That’s why we decided to come to Canadian men. We make no promises or guarantees. All we ask is that men try the product. The quality will speak for itself as it is natural and not tested on animals.
What two starter products would you recommend?
Definitely our deodorant, which is not an anti-perspirant. It will neutralize underarm odour. Then I would say our post-shave lotion, which is lightweight, spreads evenly and doubles as an everyday moisturizer.
The line ranges from $30 to $70.
