Performance artist, dancing queen and busy boy Keith Cole will also be presenting part of his MFA thesis at OCADU in the shape ofStickers and Glitter: The Politics of Being Bejeweled and Bedazzled & The Deep Gay Apparatus. This five-day, 120-hour performance will be hitting the pavement on Monday, April 23 before finally being installed on Saturday, April 28. As part of the performance Cole has built The Deep Gay Apparatus. What is The Deep Gay Apparatus? What does it do? Should Toronto be worried?
Keith: The Deep Gay Apparatus is a moving performance art vehicle that will roam through the streets, alleyways and intersections of Toronto from April 23rd to April 27th, 2012. It will be used as a screen, a dance floor, a pod for male on male intimacy, a rumour, a conversation piece, a portable studio and a piece of Toronto's rich fag history. People should not be worried but rather be in awe of such a vehicle decorated with stickers and glitter - they are welcome to join in on the fun as The Deep Gay Apparatus makes its way through hetero space.
The Deep Gay Apparatus will be dismantled on the 28th of April in the MOCCA Courtyard, as a durational performance - all are welcome to be a part of “The Coliseum of the Homosexual.”
The Coliseum of The Homosexual takes place at 1pm on Sat, Apr 28 at MOCCA, 952 Queen St W. No cover.
