DJ Sammy Jo steams up Cub Camp

The Scissor Sisters' DJ spins at the Beaver this Friday!

05.10.2012

New York/Barcelona DJ Sammy Jo has been the Scissor Sisters’ touring DJ since 2004. He’ll be on the road again when the band tramps around the globe with the new record, Magic Hour, but before that madness begins he’ll be visiting Toronto to spin at the hairy, butch realness that is Cub Camp.

“Touring for Night Work [the band’s last album] was incredible,” Sammy says. “Because it was such a dance-heavy record, they told me to go for a strong club vibe when I was playing. People went fucking nuts — dancing their asses off, taking their clothes off. The night we played Paris it was 43 degrees on stage. The computers were failing, steam was coming off everyone, and by the end of the show Jake was totally naked and Ana was throwing buckets of water at the crowd to try and cool everyone down.

“Jane Fonda was at that show in an I Heart NYC T-shirt that she had completely sweated through. That woman’s body is so fucking fierce she didn’t give a shit. She was shaking her tatas the whole damn show.”

You can shake whatever you want when Sammy Jo spins at Cub Camp, Fri, May 11, at The Beaver, 1192 Queen St W. beavertoronto.ca

At our house the line goes like this, Yuk! This is terrible. Quick, put it all on my plate! As for the cokoies, I grew up in the west and they were called 7-layer cokoies. We had the recipe memorized! Exactly like yours, except replace half of the chocolate chips with butterscotch chips. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! (Also, double the recipe! We always do!)

I love my BlackBerry Torch because it has both a touch sceren and slide out keyboard. This allows me to maximize the speed at which I move between application some functions are easier to use with a touch sceren, but I still find the BlackBerry keyboard easy to use. Also, I like the pinch to zoom feature. Facebook, and Twitter are pre-loaded. The Torch now comes in three colors. I have the black, but would have preferred the red.Importantly, I got it for free from Wirefly.com, plus free shipping.
