“The idea for Malebox came from the need to have a trans-male-identified party in Toronto again. We need a guys’ night out and a place for people to come pick up and cruise,” Valen says. “Also, with Toronto having one of the largest trans communities, and me myself identifying as a trans guy, it seemed logical.” Valen lists Malebox as a spiritual successor for events like Halfcocked, a trans and genderqueer art night, and Stroke, a party for trans guys and men who are into them, at Buddies and Goodhandy’s, respectively.
