The Academy a--wads

Why watch an awards show where people don't arrive in gigantic eggs?

01.01.2012

I didn't watch the Academy Awards on account of not being bothered. Really, though, who needs to watch the Oscars, since every single person on Facebook feels the need to give a play-by-play? So I spent the evening being productive, taking breaks to check in and see people commenting about how boring Billy Crystal is and how not-interesting the evening was. I definitely feel like I missed a lot.

So if you're like me, you didn't see The Descendants or The Help (and only saw The Iron Lady because you can imagine nothing better than Streep as a fabulously dressed, demented, butch English woman), and the Oscar hype tires you out, why not check out Queerty's list of LGBT movies the Oscars ignored this year?

Scott, I approve htirealy of a plugin that allows you to edit your work. I think I found something buggy about it when I tried to use it though. Maybe I should try it again. This is the only downside of the plugin world it's very easy for one to get a little out of date, or to find there's a clash between different plugins that you're running, then you need to work out which one's the culprit. Small price to pay really though for such great functionality.Robert, I know what you mean. I'm meaning to add a top articles feature that I'll need to do manually. Talking points' throws up a different set of answers often posts about blog comments in my case! I quite like the idea of showing what the readers/commenters' choice is though. I too haven't seen the top commenters plugin so much, I guess for those reasons. The LizLuv plug in is awesome and I am most impressed with your numbers Joanna
