America Transgender, looks at the
lives of three American transgender people.
The Anderson Cooper clip below, though? Yikes. I mean, sure, parents, it’s lovely that you acknowledge you have a transgender child, but you’re not exactly the martyrs you seem to make yourselves out to be. Is it fair to say comparing your daughter to conjoined twins may be a bit much?
I guess I just find it hard to understand why it's such a massive leap for parents to love and recognize their children for who they are. Why do we feel this desire to convince ourselves that “it’s no one’s fault”? That still implies there’s a problem or some sort of accident at work. I know everyone doesn’t live in an idyllic, open-minded bubble like me, but can’t we all agree: you had a kid, it’s going to be complicated no matter who they are, deal with it.
