This week fashion and sports media gathered at the Real Sports Bar and Grill on lower York St area to see two hunky sports stars use Vaseline... on their skin. Football legend Michael Strahan and professional acrobat/human flag Dominic LaCasse (pictured above) were the personalities selected to help launch Vaseline for Men in Canada. Released in the US early this year, this line is a non-greasy, for boys only, body lotion that promises absorption in 15 seconds.
There were two parts to the event. First, LaCasse set a new world record for flag chin-ups, meaning he did chin-ups horizontally while positioned as a human flag. After, to show how fast-acting the lotion is, LaCasse moisturized his hands with the lotion, waited exactly 15 seconds and performed his act again. The crowd was wowed and gave him a standing ovation. Following his public display of strength, I was able to steal a few moments with LaCasse.
Max MacDonald: What do you do to train?
Dominic LaCasse: Well, I don’t lift weights. I lift my own body weight and eat well. I studied gymnastics for many years, so this was the next step for me.
MM: What do you eat to stay fit?
DL: [Laughs] I eat well. I avoid sugar and don’t drink alcohol.
MM: What would you say to readers who need motivation to get to the gym?
DL: You have to have a goal. If you don’t have a goal, it will all seem meaningless. You have to train and eat well, plus remember to keep a positive attitude.
Vaseline for Men is available at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharma Plus.
