How to Wear

Almost everything in the word of fashion has already been done. Think outside the sewing box and look for everyday items to wear as clothing. Northbound Leather’s annual fetish fashion show and party is the perfect opportunity to explore this concept. As well as purchasing a key piece from Northbound, add to your outfit with unique items that will make you stand out in a sea of black leather and rubber. With a literary theme to this year’s event, these inexpensive RolynSays Easy-Make items take inspiration from some classic children’s books:

“Robin Hood” bow & arrow harness

With his band of Merry Men he robbed from the rich to give to the poor . . . in tights!
Need: 2 kids bow and arrow set-$2, Dollarama (or upgrade to real ones), circular locking grappling hook- $5, Mountain Equipment Co-op
How: Simply secure the two bows with a circular grappling hook. Place bowstrings over shoulders. Start hunting.
 

"Tom Sawyer” Bungee Cord Suspenders

The originator of the one shoulder painter-pant look
Need: 2 bungee cords sets- $3, Dollarama
How: Attach bungee cord hooks to the belt loops of your favourite slutty jeans or jean shorts. Start looking for Tom Sawyer of Finland.
 

“Moby Dick” Snorkel Mask Jock Strap

A whale of a tale that will have you freeing your willy
Need: Snorkel mask (preferably fish shaped but can me a regular snorkel mask as well), 2” thick black elastic banding
How: Remove and discard the rubber head strap that comes with the snorkel mask. Using the side attachments holes of mask attach elastic banding. Punch a hole in the centre bottom of mask and tie one end of another piece of elastic banding to this hole. Tie the other end to the middle of the elastic band that goes around your waist. This can be worn modestly with a regular jock strap underneath. We suggest without.
 
 

”Pinocchio” Real Boy Rubber Play Suit

All he wanted was to be a real boy . . . so that he could play with other boys
Need:  vest pattern- $5, Fabricland, 1970s’s running shorts pattern-$5, Fabricland, 4-piece vinyl car mat set-$2, Dollarama, rubber glue-$10, Canadian Tire, red, blue or yellow duct tape- $1, Dollarama
How: Lay Fabricland patterns on top of mats and cut out. Using industrial strength rubber glue, attach pieces inside-out. Wait until dry. Turn outfits right-side out and accessorize with bike reflectors and coloured duct tape of your choice. You’re now ready to find the Blue Fairy . . . $20 in pill form.
 

“Berenstain Bears” Face Mask & Matching Mitts

A furry family that plays together . . .
Need: one used very large fury teddy bear- $4, Value Village, black duct tape- $1, Dollarama  • velco-$1, Dollarama
How: With Dexter like precision sever the head and feet from Teddy. Remove stuffin. Cut Teddy’s head so you can see and so that your mouth is easily accessible for breathing and inserting things. Remove stuffing from the feet of Teddy. Insert hands. Secure with masking tape. Start growling.
 

“Lord Of The Flies” Fly Paper Bullet Harness & Wrist Restraints with Matching Fly Swatter Paddle

A classic tale of innocence lost . . . on an island of only boys
Need: fly paper rolls-$4, Canadian Tire, bright coloured fly swatter- $1, Dollarama, black duct tape- $1, Dollarama, industrial hot glue gun/glue sticks-$15, Canadian Tire
How: Make large strips using black masking tape double the tape over so that the tape will not stick to your skin. Attach flypaper rolls to duct tape strips using glue gun. Wrap around your chest in a single or double harness pattern. For the wrist restraints, unwrap part of a roll of flypaper. Wrap around wrist and secure with hot glue. The stickiness of the exposed paper will act as sexual sensory aid and will stick you to all the guys you pass by. The fly swatter can be used to paddle any naughty Piggy that tries to get away.

“Little Lord Fauntleroy” Shoulder Harness

The epitome of style, fictional Cedric Fauntleroy created a real life formal dress fab for middle class children.
Need: small black dog harness- $2, Dollarama, black rubber dog grooming mitt- $2, Dollarama, industrial hot glue gun and glue sticks- $15, Canadian Tire
How: Attach black rubber banding to underside of rubber dog grooming mitt using glue gun. Attach dog grooming mitt to dog harness with glue gun. Place arm through rubber banding of dog mitt and place harness over head. The rubber ends of the mitt will act as a sensory aid in sexual play. Or just use it to groom your chest hair. Woof.
