It’s the Style Life Halloween edition! I’ve tried to ease the guesswork on who to be and what to wear. All it takes is your own clothes, a hot glue gun and your favourite makeup-artist friend booked in advance. If you don’t have one, I suggest you hit a MAC counter soon and befriend one now. It’s amazing what a little — well, a lot — of makeup can do. I teamed up with Mila Victoria, the YouTube makeup tutorial maven. We pooled our ideas to transform my friend Ted into four looks that could inspire your costume this year. By the time Halloween comes around, all you’ll need to worry about are tricks (and treats).
Things to consider
The dollar store is your friend but not your lover. Don’t get carried away.
Keep it simple but maintain a solid commitment to the details.
Don’t be generic. Everyone has a story; so should your costume.
Don’t buy a full outfit in a bag. Ever.
Mila’s tips
Stock up at Halloween pop-up shops for fierce costumed nights to come.
Red food colouring and baby oil make instant blood.
Don’t be a Halloween hot mess. Use a setting spray to preserve your look. And please, blot your sweat — no wiping.
The best costumes this year: vampires. And Beyoncé. Obviously.

<- clowns will always be scary as hell
-> True Blood trumps Twighlight
<- To be a $tar, attitude is just as crucial as your look
