But he was worth it, what we do for love

Together: Rob and Alex - 8 months

Rob (left) and Alex don’t disagree very much, except about the strength of massage therapist Alex’s hands. “Think of me as fine china,” says Rob of how he prefers to be worked on. “That’s not a massage, that’s touch,” snorts Alex, an expert at deep-tissue massage. The couple met as Facebook friends when Rob was still living in Australia. Then Rob decided to combine a DJ gig at a Vancouver Pride Bearracuda party with a trip to Toronto so they could meet in the flesh. It was love at first sight, but the long-distance relationship was tough — a flight to Australia takes 26 hours. “But he was worth it — what we do for love,” says Alex, who flew to Sydney to propose. The pair married at Fuzion on the first day of spring but will still be collecting lots of air miles, as Rob has DJ gigs all over the US. However, he’s most excited about two gigs in his new hometown: Bearracuda vs Pitbull on Saturday, March 31 at fly, and a new night at The Barn — Dirty Bear — that begins Saturday, April 7. When his schedule gets too hectic and strenuous, Alex will be there to touch, not massage, away the stress.

Alex can help with your stress at thepoweroftouch.com - Rob’s upcoming DJ gigs are at dj-rob.ca.
